Jan Kiviet selected for Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences
Prof Jan Kiviet has been selected as a new member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). In addition to Dr Kiviet, three other UvA academics, Louise Fresco, Jelle Koopmans and Marcel Levi, were also named as new members of the Academy. This year, the KNAW selected a total of 28 new members.
The Academy has about 200 regular members who are all prominent academics and researchers, representing a wide range of research areas. The members meet monthly to discuss academic subjects and many are active in the Academy's boards and committees.
When members of the Academy reach the age of 65, their place is made available to a new member. The Academy members then choose new members based on recommendations from the academic community. An evaluation of the candidate's academic achievements is an important part of the selection process.
